When Last We Spoke…
A look at the past events
History of the JQC 101
Access hosted an engaging exploration of the
History of the JQC (Jewish Queen City) 101 and Cincinnati's proud legacy
of Jewish people, places and events that have played a prominent role
in making the Queen City, and our nation great. This event took place at
the American Jewish Archives on May 16th. Pre and post event tour of the Archives' Jewish Cincinnati exhibit was included.
Kosher Sex
Access got together for an intimate discussion with Ari Boxman, an HUC Rabbinic Student, about topics the Torah isn't shy about tackling head on, such as sensuality, sex and other subjects typically too taboo for most other religions to talk about. Nothing was off limits in this conversation that covered Judaism's take on everything from fornication to foreplay!
The Tribe
Participants viewed the short film, The Tribe, which portrayed archival footage, graphics, animation, Barbie dioramas and slam poetry that took the audience through the complex history of both the Barbie doll and the Jewish people. The film shed light on the questions, What does it mean to be an American Jew today? What does it mean to be a member of any tribe in the 21st century? After the film, participants shared their views and ate at JCafe's Bagel Bar.

Office ethics… do you make it your business?
If you don't get caught, is it still okay? Lots of conversation and varying views were expressed over ice cream sundaes and java when facilitator, Rabbi Mark Rothschild, CEO of the new Mayerson JCC, led an engaging discussion based on Jewish business ethics.
